Thanks for the comments. Yes, we're still using T5s on some ghetto aluminium L-bar frame I made years ago. Comes with acrylic splash shield and amazing automatic positioning system (that would be rollers to you and me) :D Just like an ATI powermodule... apart from the cost... and the appearance... and the name.

More pics sometime soon :D

As linds said stunning pics this tanks a credit to you, what is your maintenance regime and what addatives if any do you use :good:

Long time coming but here's some FTS. Made a few changes over the last year or so as the tank had become overgrown and my poor fish didn't have enough room to swing a cat  :

Our maintenance regime has been a bit lax of late but usually do a 25% water change per month, skimmer cleaned every other day, pumps cleaned every 2 to 3 months and reactor topped up when needed. Top up is with kalkwater via diy auto-topup.

Fish get fed twice a day with flake and a sheet of nori for the tangs - although the wrasse enjoys it too - and a flood feed of frozen food 3 times a week for the fish and corals.

The only additives we use are calcium reactor and kalkwater top up and the most beneficial of all... dog hair :D.

When I ordered these from Jason I said something like "I want bright, supercoloured varieties that you can see from the other side of the room". Well Jas doesn't like to disappoint the ladies no matter how unreasonable their demands :D

Thought it was time for my yearly update, bit late but it's been a shitty year so far.

Started the year with the anemone splitting into 3 and having to take down a third of the tank in order to remove them. Reluctantly we decided to remove the clownfish and anemone to another system. All went well for a couple of months then the female clown died shortly followed by the anemone. Knew it was a risk, but it was really gutting especially since we'd had them for so many years.

A few months later the wrasse jumped, while I was working on the tank and I didn't notice until it was too late.

Then, as if my heart wasn't broken enough already, I had to have my beloved dog put to sleep. He has been my friend and companion for over 12 years and I can't put into words how much I miss him.

Sam last year - he loved it when it snowed.

_MCG7247_zps5c8d2628.jpg

On a brighter note the little male clown is still going and surprisingly he has taken to his new artificial anemone.

Overall the tank is doing well. Some of the coral got a little stressed during the hot spell in July but thankfully no lasting damage. I've become a great fan of top down shots as it really shows the true beauty of the corals.

The clam. It's finally started to reach a decent size after all these years

Jas Blue - a very rare and hard to get acro

As you can see it's as blue as a damsel

A interesting acro that has changed from mostly brown with a bit of blue to this

Tricolour acro and a few others

My all time favorite coral, the Red Planet trying to take over the whole tank (and largely succeeding)

A year ago it was this

_MCG7876_zpse9baa80f.jpg

It's now grown into this

But it is such a beautiful thing

Hope you enjoyed the pics and as it's now nearly 6pm it's time to go and have a drink :D
