To be serious for a moment Ms Karen
I was just checking out the Sun coral in the pic, if you look carefully there is a hole in the center just over 1/4". As I was watching it, what I thought was a Feather duster popped out and straight back in. CChecking it care fully, it is a Mollusc/Bivalve type creature, that shoots out the fan. I doubt I can get a pic, but would love to know what it is, it looks as if it is stuck in there, may have grown too large over time, cool though.

I bet its a duster, altho the hole is very large for one.
If you can get a pic, not blury  we can see what it is.
Remember also, sun corals like semi dark places so make sure he isnt getting allot of light all day.
Pretty arent they!

The light thing has been argued so many times, I believe that Eric B said its not so much that they don't like the light, more that in there natural habitat they are quite often found upside down in caves, his explanation was that they get the food they need in that situation. That being said, he is 24" down under t5s, and I spend all day sitting by the tank if I am on my laptop, so I will be watching him. The thing with the Sun is possibly some form of fan worm, where the calcareous tube is coiled, and the end looks just like an eye looking out. Maybe will come out when settled, at the moment it is out for about 1 second every few minutes.

Beautiful is an understatement, I can see now what people see in them.

The witness protection programme seems to be giving the Rose more confidence as you say, maybe 8 tentacles showing prior to my main lights going out, reckon it will be having a look around soon.

Your right on the light arguement. Mine likes under a shelf so that is where he stays.
I saw a program a year or so ago about saltwater things and they showed a huge wall, maybe 100 feet long covered in Suns.
The whole thing was solid yellow and facing I think they said East.
Just beautiful.
