want to connect an R.O unit up but sort of temporary ie not drill very many holes !
going to connect it in the bathroom so got a cold water feed plus a waste pipe for the connections that you get with the R.O unit
now to get out side going to run the good R.O pipe out though the toilet overflow pipe in to two dustbins !

the dustbins are going to be interconnected and have a tap fitted and a sealed top instead of a normal lid !

now i need an overflow in case i leave the R.O unit running can i tap in to the downpipe from the gutter ?

any one see any problems with this ?

I do not see it being a problem

But why not have an open overflow so you can see that you've left it on

or get a shut off valve from a supplier that shuts off the water and waste supply when the tank is full

cheers

thought of that but !
theres no water outside and hopefully not staying here !
the bins will be under a flight of stairs with the drainpipe being at the side of the house under the stairs ! so i would not be able to see in to it !

can you stop the Good R.O water flow ?

Yes I've got a float valve on my water butt and a valve in the "good water" line and the "waste water line"

When the butt is full the float valve closes and the pressure rise closes the valves in both lines.

I'll look for a link for you.

Auto shut off

Cheers

when you click on reply you get the new 'replying to....blah....blah' box appear.
in there you will see a load of icons....the one next to the smilies selector.....click that highlight whats in there and and paste the link over the top (deleting the http:// that will be in there) ...hit return...then it will give you the option to add some text...much like i wrote "hope this helps" etc hit return and your done.
hope that makes sense

By shutting the waste off aswell you stop all water flow through the unit and into the drain.

Therefore conserving water

By strange coincidance Ive just been on the phone to R.O Man today and ordered the very same. The shut off valves are about £8 for the good water and the valve to shut the system down is a bit more
How much water do you need a week out of interest?

I might be able to help as I have quite a large system which will need quite a bit of water.15 gallon isa drop in the oceon. If its only temp situation then I'm sure it would be easier for you to collect rather than p----s about with pipes and bathrooms.
Give us a shout if you think I can help.

I know you probably have done this already, as I see it's an old thread but, I thought that the water in the bathroom was connected to the cold water tank and not the mains supply, therefore not getting the pressure required to run the unit.

Just a thought.
