I can't say I aim to keep it at anything in particular other than above 8. It seems to settle itself out in the mid 10's unless my kalk stirrer gets low when it falls down to low 9's.

I'm not sure what affect the heavy feeding has, I don't feed as heavily as Jason, I'm not sure anyone does, but I use the same food. The only time I happened to measure alk the morning after it was lower than expected, but also the kalk is getting lower so not conclusive.

I aim to keep mine at 12 so all my bi carbonates stay in suspension longer. I buffer it every three days with tripple buffer. The lowest it has been is 10.2

Hi lyndsay

I'v not bee on top of the dosing so levels dropped from 8.6 to 7.7 but im back on it again iv been manually dosing im bringing it up over a longer period its going up by 0.5 a week.
I want to set up a ca reactor looking for a shuran jet stream 1

rscp = Red sea coral pro
35.0 ppt
PH 8.2 - 8.4
KH 12.3 - 12.7
CAL 455 - 475
MAG 1360 - 1420

the dkh is 12.7 on that iv been using tmc bio active but im after elevated levels for better growth

Cool, sounds good but you may find it a little hard to keep high end calcium and dkh levels even with a jst 1,from what i have read of late it would seem that when aiming for high cal and dkh with a reactor you normally end up with one being higher than the other,ie if you get the calcium high then the dkh will dip at the same time so would result in the need to buffer the dkh up as the calcium is being sorted by the reactor.I have settled for a dkh around 9 and a calcium level of just over 400 which seems to stay stable with only a small amount of buffer now and then.
