For some time now I've noticed a small white lump on one branch of a piece of SPS. There has been no tissue on it, but no dieback anywhere else just on this calcerous lump. Yesterday I noticed it had started to die-back around the lump, so this evening I decided to cut off the branch just below said lump.

For some reason I didn't take a photo of it in situ. The best I can do is say the position of the lump was on a branch underneath the main 'canopy' of tips.

Here is the fragment in the pot, I have circled the area which approximates to the original lump...

Here is the other side, it was 'sloughing' very thickly on this side, I have circled it....

I noticed a little critter go in-and out of the growth, in this photo you can see it near the bottom on the fragment. I took the snips and cut away at the growth unsure of what would lie within. Turns out it was hollow with a dark coloration to it inside.

Here is a close view of the critter. It may just be a regular pod of some sort, it's generally looked like one.

Anyone else ever seen anything like this?

Dont know exactly what it is Chris but if it was burrowing into the skeleton of the coral and causing damage best to get rid imo.

Not sure about the critter m8 but cutting die back off is often the best way to save the rest of the coral ..
