I still think it's a A. Nana :) look at the shape of the radial corallites. According to the pictures in Veron A. Nana corrallites are much more compact. The radial corallites on A. Valida are chunkier, more elongated. Need to wait for it to grow out and see the growth form.

Sorry Tim, I don't think the second picture is A. Valida, If you look at the radial corallites they are small and quite widely spaced. In the Veron pictures A.Valida are larger in ratio to the branch, much more numerous and closer together.

Acropora will drive you mad, believe me ;)

Yeh looking at it i think its Nana the first one, ive avoided these few like the plague for this reason ;)
I didnt think it was valida but the guys on RC said it was and its pointless starting an argument about it The veron book is great but every tips looks purple which is even more confusing .. even veron said he cant tell home colonys from wild so what chance have we mere mortals got.

What ever it is it looks nice. It could always be a hybrid. However the shape seems familiar, I dig the books out and see if I can find it.

I assumed these I have are A.Nana? Both my colonies grow very upright.

I got them from a tank breakdown a while ago - problem is it looks like I also got AEFW from him! I've had to bin a couple of acros and dip the rest, I think i've cracked it now. Set the tank back a few months though
