I am designing an overflow for my current system, been thinking about upgrading, but I think that will be a longway off, so I am going to do some work on my current setup.
I have been thinking about the best way to make an external overflow run as near silent as possible, as drilling my tank is out of the question, I beleive it's tempered glass.
I thought about building the design below, can you guys see why this would not work or any problems I would have, the smaller pipe shall have the restricter valve and the taller pipe will probably be even taller, to much near the small divider this would help to keep it running silent as the water shall be near the top of the small divider to stop the noise from it crashing down to the bottom of the chamber.
The below is just to give you an idea of what I am trying to achieve, not the final design.
