Here's a step-by-step instructions on how to build your own dosing pump which I created approx 2 years ago.

Pump looks the same but the motor is different 240v - v -24v. You would need a transformer for the latter. It may enable controlability though.

Yes if you use a variable output transformer you would then make pump variable flow They aren't expensive from somewhere like Maplins or RS

Thanks Keith, yes that's where I bought mine from.

I also bought the 24v models to make auto top up units.

Looks like a great idea to me.

Forgive my stupidity, but what would you use to control these?

I don't have a spare as otherwise you could of had one, there are a limited number of laptops that I can pinch power supplies from.

no worries there slappy :D people throw them out when the get a bit old, saying that the missus has a laptop that isnt being used much :P

I was thinking of getting a diy electronic timer kit that I could fit in the enclosure, hook it up to the pump, that way I could have a variable pump with a built in timer.
if only it was that easy

might just go for a 240v version in the end, have a cr sitting there doing nothing at the moment - bit useless without a dosing pump, already fed up of dosing chemicals manually :P
