Just thought I would let you all see my Auto top up I have made :D

2 Float switches in the sump return, low level & high level cutout, Power on Indicator & Pump run Indicator, Runs on 12v DC.

Here are a few pics showing the unit itself, the float switch covers & the connections

I may add a third float switch yet to stop the Top up pump should the Tank run dry.

aint got a clue to be honest. guess it depends on materials and labour. also look at what the competitors are selling for.

it is hard to compete with the big boys sometimes though

Would probably be in the region of £55-£60, depends on if I bulk buy the components, I could get it down a bit from that price that way, I know I have seen the aquatronic 1 for about £40, so may not be worth it.

Done some sums and I reckon, if I got orders for 10 of these units, I could do them for £45, they come less the multi voltage power adaptor, but most people have them lying about or can pick them up for about £5.

Is that orange unit a sump pump?
Is that your RO reservoir?

Does your RO res fill automatically?

Hi Wayne,

The orange pump is the Top up pump, and that is in my Top up tank.

It is a neat & powerful pump and can fit through the top of the large 25ltr water containers that alot of people use, so you don't even need a seperate tank.

My Top up tank does not fill automatically, The pump can run dry for a while, I may also add a third float switch in to stop the pump in Top up tank, should it run dry

you could put a float in the top of the RO top up tank and a solinoid valve on your ro machine (Fail Closed) and automatically fill the tank.

But then why do you even need a res at all? Have you got an RO machine?

RO unit is plumbed in under the sink in the kitchen, no way of getting it to the tank, I have thought about doing it that way, but if my RO machine is not running constantly, you should really dump the first 10mins worth after your RO unit has been sitting as you can get a build up of TDS when the water is sitting in the chambers.

It would involve diverter valves and the likes and tbh a bit to much work.

Thanks for the info anyway

TBH and TDS mean? Sorry dumb!
I have never bothered flushing mine after the first flush. well other than turning the waste limiting valve to clean the surfaces or what ever it does???!!!
Never had any problems.... should I be worried?

TDS= Total Dissolved Solids= What you are trying to remove from the water, lwhen you switch your RO unit of the water that is left in it can have a high TDS, which is not good, best to run it for 10mins and discard the water.

TBH= To Be Honest

:thanks:

Cool, theres a few of them that I don't understand.

IMO

Etc etc

Anyways if you do want some prices on kit let me know.

What I would say is I don't take those precautions and my perameters are good.

What your actually say is that when the pressure if off the filter, the particles pass through the filters?? Seems a little far fetched??

Over cautious I think but just my opinion....... Please don't take offence.
