at the moment i have a 400w over a 28" high tank, and the heat is about 28c. do you think should stick with 400w over the new 22" high, or will i have heat problems. i will be keeping sps mainly.

or will i be fine with 250w.

i dont want to raise the light because of light spill.

cheers
ben

Well you seen my trigon ben and that was a single 250w and the tank was over 26 inches deep
If your sticking to acros at the top then stay with the 250, if you want them growing from the bottom i would go for 400w.

they will be placed about half way up i reckon. the main worry is the heat but im also worried about bleaching.

your trigon did very well so mabye 250 will be fine.

i guess the only way is like jason said. just try it and see :D

I'd deffinately go with 250 watts over that depth, i'm tempted to give them a try over my new tank!

yeh ive got a feeling it will cause problems. shame as im getting great colour with the 400's

the tank will be 36"long x 26" wide x 22" high. it will be easier to work in and let me look down over it to.

Mine is currently 24" high and the halide (400w) is approx 10" above the water, the acros are on the bottom, middle and top of the tank and the colours are so much better than when i used my 250w so, if the choice was mine, I would stay with 400w.
