Can anyone help?

I've got an Aqua One 620 tank, with the standard lights that came with it, and am looking to try and start putting corals into the tank.

I would like to know if the standard lights will support corals, or if I can just buy new lamps for it? (The cheaper option - the better!!)

Any advice would be grateful!

I used to have a 620(T) a few years ago and the lighting was ok for soft corals but no way near good enough for SPS. Depends what you are looking to keep.

Ben i think they are the standard twin 39watt T5's, and the tank has two pairs.

Rocky.
48x26x20 main tank
40x16x15 Cheato & DSB Sump
eheim 1262 return
Twin TMC V-skim 600's
2 x Seio m1500's and controller plus 2 x Seio m1100's
40Kg Fiji live rock
LPS and softies from Jasons Aquatics
Yellow,Powder blue & Regal Tangs,Convict Blennie, Pyjama wrasse, blue damsel and chromis
Blue leg & algae hermits, cerith, turbo, vibex and nassirus snails, and Linka

The light we have are PL 18w 14000k 17100k (Thats the code on them) 2 x twin tube lights

We've been told they'll maybe support some soft corals.

Thanks for that Ben.
Would you know if we could just upgrade the bulbs, or would we need to replace the lighting unit all together?
Although the soft corals are only really what we want to try just to begin with.

HI
I dont no what the inside of your hood is like but the tank is just wide enough to take twin 55 watt interpet T5 compacts.
I've kept all sorts hard corals under them without to much trouble. If you put them inside your hood you'll have to watch the temperature as they will deform the hood.
I should think keeping the water good enough for hard corals is going to be more of a problem, with only 90 ltrs to play with.
Best of luck.
Steve.
