as im looking into feeding higher amounts to my corals , i was thinking about whether it would be a good idea or not to turn off the skimmer, all night, on the days when i feed . what do you think?
cheers

The only thing id say to that, is to look at what your pH does over night 'without a feed' and the skimmer turned off first.
You have to weigh up whats more imporetant to you, a bit of wasted food, or a more stable 24/7 pH, and then add in the factor that when you add food into the equasion, the affect on pH suppression is even greater as the biological processes of the tank kick into high gear whilst the food is present...

i aggree about the ph issue ben especially as your tank is still very young.
i would leave the hard feeding regime out for the first year of he tanks life if it were me mate. once the system is a year or so down the line you be able to virtually drop a dead sheep in there with little effect but at the moment stability is paramount.

trust you to mention sheep wayne, lol.
andrew
the food im using at the moment is, 2ml of gamma nutriplus, a squirt of salifert coral food, 1 block of baby brine, a pinch of cyclopeze and a spoon of powdered phyto. so not anywhere near the heavy feeding of pappone. i agree the tank isnt ready for that type of feeding yet
i fed this last night and turned off the skimmer. ph this morning was 8.2 .
i will see what the skimmer does today now its back on.
the calcium reactor is off at the moment ,so when that goes on again i will need to check it doesnt affect the ph too much when the skimmer is off
