I'm wishing i did my PADI over the summer, as i'm more than likely going away for a week in February. The Maldives is the top of my list but i also like the look of the Caribbean side of Panama and Egypt is also on the short list!

It's amazing, the first 3 pics are just off the beach from our hotel you're not even out of your depth. It is a great holiday destination for reefers, so much to see, although if we go again I think I'd go when it's not so hot, 40+ degrees in August

Very nice Dave.
IMO the best value for money dive destination in the world.
Especially if your a reefer. I think what amazed me is the sight of the fish we keep in their natural envoirement, but at their full grown size.
Where did you stay?

I agree Martin, have been to the Caribean before but the Red Sea just blows that away for colour and species.
We stayed at the Rosetta Hotel just outside Naama Bay, not 4 star as advertised but plenty good enough for holiday and Emperor Divers was right next door

Hi Dave I guess he was about 14-15 inches body length, when you see them in their natural habitat you realise why you need a big tank for Tangs

Cant wait to get back there. I think I was further up the road than you.Lovely hotel and house reef just up from tiran island on the road to Dahab.
I remember the guide on the first dive saying because i was a bit bigger than the others he would give me a 12lt bottle instead of a 10.I should be good for about 45 mins as i was advanced paddi.
Went down about 10m and just couldn't believe my eyes  .it was like saving Nemo in real life!!!
i'm embarrased to say I lasted about 15mins. I was breathing like red rum due to the amazing corals and fish.
Every reefer should go if they possibly can afford it.It puts it all into perspective.

Hi Tony,
we stayed in Naama Bay, cant remember the name of hotel but it was just across the road from the Hilton, the good thing over there is you can just walk in to any hotel, so we spent a lot of time in the Hilton which was very good

Awesome pic's :)

That Trigger in the 2nd picture up from the bottom - titan trigger? Saw these out in the maldives and they were said to be VERY aggressive if you encroached on their "territory" - i think Jas said he got nipped by one when he went too...personally i was more worried about these than the 6ft reef sharks!
anyone want coral safe, aiptasia eating nudibranc's (berghia) from one of the UK's only breeders? PM me for details
