Yeeeeeah :cool3: :D :D

After months of planning, saving, moving house and waiting, my new reef arrives tomorrow.

Finally, I can get fired up and see what some REAL LED lighting can produce.

OK, it arrived today. :whistling:

I cant do much with any pictures at the moment as Ive yet to unpack my camera from moving home, so you will have to put up with some Iphone pictures. I cant get a full tank shot as the missus and son are sitting on the sofa and I need to move some furniture to get a full shot.

Sooooo, this is a little taster to start things off.

The tank is 5X2X2 sitting on an 8' base. This is a shot of the tank bit.

Attached File  018.JPG (82.2K)

Sitting on top is 2 X 60" aquaillumination LED Light Units. To give you some idea of brightness, the photo was taken with bright living room lights on and it simply swamps them.
At the centre back is a sipper weir, which when set up right, operates silently but cant airlock or cause flooding in the same way that Durso,s can.
To the left is the intake for the closed loop system (11,500 LPH). The returns for this are via the 4 jets at the front of the tank (unfinished) and a spray bar behind the reef, all of which are inedependently controllable with ball valves.
The returns at the top of the tank are from the sump (6500 LPH)
The base of the tank has standoffs for the reefclean system, with an angled fence at the front to deflect the water upwards and away from the sand bed at the front.

Sump Left.

Attached File  019.JPG (98.4K)
Number of downloads: 95

Here you can see the Reeflo Dart closed loop pump, externally mounted.
Inside the sump at the back are 2 socks, one from the sipper and the second from the weir itself.
Inside the sump is a Turboflotor Multi SL Skimmer and 2 Kent Phos Reactors. One will be a phospate reactor and the second is converted into a CO2 scrubber and will be filled with ARM media.
The illuminated section is the Refugium which will house Mineral Mud and Chaeto.

Sump Right.

Attached File  022.JPG (102.07K)
Number of downloads: 64

Here you can see the Refugium return combs and the Oceanrunner 6500 sump return pump.
To the right of this , outside the sump will be a Calcium reactor, electronics and a water mixing tank (not shown)

Sorry foir the scrappy pictures and descriptionbut i'd rather be building than taking pictures.

I will be busy for a few days, fitting the autotop sensors (all built into the sump), wiring up and wet testing.
There is a pelmet to go around the top of the tank but this has yet to be fitted, once everything is in place.

Now, where did I put my screwdriver.

It was jointly designed by me and Wharf Aquatics and entirely built by Wharf.
They will build to your design, jointly build or design and build if you dont have any experience. They even built my existing stuff into the design to save me having to buy all new.

Cant praise them enough really.

Just a quick FTS as I'm starting to get some stock in now......Cmon fragnight.

The lights are running at about 75%. I'm reluctant to push them any further at present as I was showing signs of bleaching. Perhaps the corals had spent too much time under Jasons weedy MH's :P

Hope you like.

The eductors are working well. I get very very little settling on the bottom. The eductors always seem to pull any waste off the bottom and flirt it back up.
They are a little ugly but work really well. The flow is superb.

the sand started out flat, but as you can see, its slowly migrated and piled itself up in keeping with the flow pattern.

Just to say that I have had the privilege to see this tank in person and for such a new system, it's extremely well stocked and all corals and fish are looking very happy and healthy indeed.

The sump cabinet and pipework is very neat and tidy.

The tank is a credit to you Tony, well done.

Those LED lights are fantastic, if the price is more affordable for the average reefkeeper, I can see them becoming more popular.

Made me sick to see it, its a great tank and I felt very inferior.

Is a fantastic system, I was blown away with the sump and reef flush system!
I suggest a change of plan... Let the wookie win
