this is my new nano tank. its a boyu tl 550. 29gallons.
it measures 22" high x 22" wide x 20" long and comes with an optional stand.

it comes with a skimmer, which ive changed for a v2 nano skimmer, a heater, a uv which wont be plugged in, hex nodes and sponges that ive removed, twin 24w t5 compact light which are 50/50 and soon to be changed to all white, and 2 little blue LED's which are not really worth the space. it also has cooling fans built into the hood.
i will add 3x15 LED strips to give me the blue when the main lights go off.
the return pump is 1000 lt/h so im going to change this to a 1200 for better flow.
i will also use a tunze nano stream.

this pic shows the size comparison to my 36" x 26" x 22"h tank

this pic shows it with the light on. as you can see its quite blue so the 50/50 bulbs defo need replacing imo. you can also see the 2 bags of hex nodes , sponge blocks and supplied skimmer.

this pic shows the twin lights. the lid can either lift up like a car bonnet and rest on 2 supports or it can be slid back, lifted and then slide down behind the tank ,as seen here

this pic shows the back compartment with the v2 skimmer and heater. there is also a spray bar on the return but i expect this will also be removed.

i feel fluidising would make things a lot more efficient.

I had the Boyu nano Ben they do work quite well and much easier to maintain and do water changes. I used a Koralia Nano for the xtra circulation.

Whats the Nano output Ben the Koralia nano was about 900lph and it fair rattled around. Added to the spray bar pump it was more than enough.

Ive still got mine in the Lads bedroom ticking over with some live rock and sand.

Heres how it was before the bigger build

a freind of mine has this tank ben he left spray bar in as it rotates in two section ideal for aiming at rock and surface he changed the standard pump for a eheim compact 1000 same litre hour pump but more head it made a difference , the leds are surprising of a night time , he filled the back of his up with lr rubble , great little tank though

rocky the nano stream is rated at 2500lt/h but mine is modded so its a lot more now. sounds like its way too much but will wait and see. however yours looks like the 450 so its a lot smaller than the 550 i have.

hi carl, thanks for the tip on the spray bar, ill try it before i take it out. also im not a fan of rock rubble as imo it would act like bio balls unless its in big enough peices.

Yes Ben its the 450 so you should be ok with the flow. I too had LRR in the rear of the tank not small pieces though, every little bit helps as you can only get about 10-12Kg in the display part you could have a little more.

Are you going to stay with SPS??? as they do a good mini 150w halide that clamps onto the side, ideal for nanos.

Anyway good luck and i look forward to seeing it up and running. :whistling:

just had a play around it it looks unlikely i could get another light in beside the existing ones under the plastic cover. it mabye possible to have one on top of the plastic , fitted where the bottom led strip is at the moment, but that would depend on how close to the water it would end up.

ill have to wait and see for that one
