Bright green growths

Guys,

Any idea what these are. I have about a dozen of these luminous green growths on my rock. They are about 5-10mm in length and tubular. Look great under my blue lights.

its a type of algae and a good guy. dont usually last long though

Shame its quite a nice feature.

What do you mean LONG Ben? they have been growing steadily for nearly 5 weeks now, is it a food source or does it die of natural causes?

im not sure why they dont last long. they do appear at any time, but ime they are usually seen in failrly new tanks and then dissapear after a few months. not always though.
