As title - Just wondered and in which case, what test kit do you use, what levels do you maintain and what product is used?

Are you running a bare bottom set up then?

Ive got one sat in my shopping cart at the moment together with a few other things (Potasium Chloride :wallbash: ), so yes, I'll order it and get it sent down. I'll get your rowalith aswell to save your P&P.

Linday - I would have thought by the amount of top-ups you are doing in the shop your levels are kept in check with the salt addition.

Yes i tend to test the more normal levels ie ,dkh, cal and so on because the salt tends to have the last word with mineral levels if you do say 10 to 15% changes and top ups a week and run a calcium reactor at 120 ml a min .

I got a test kit (the KZ one) after I noticed a few Montis weren't as bright as they should have been. The readings were around 300ppm which is way below NSW (390-400ppm). I raised it up with Potassium Chloride and within a few days the colours really returned to the corals, my Hysterix coloured up further as well.

That was around 3-4 months ago and since then the level has remained constant without further dosing.

I have dosed KCL which contributed to algae growth and have also tried the KZ k balance once i got levels up to where they should be it seems to have remained quite constant, corals definately showed better colour particularly the montis that I have also use a kz kit to test and its annoying to say the least.

Tanks still under a year old though so still have to wait to see longterm effects.

The KZ kit does take a little getting used to (there's a good reference pic on zeovit.com), but once you've done it a few times it's a lot easier.

Well I got my KZ test kit yesterday and my readings were around 230ppm, although I have to say the kit is not easy to read and the reference on Zeovit.com makes no sense. The test water did not achieve the milky appearance and was all but clear. Just starting to raise levels and will keep you informed of progress.

Well it appears I have a dodgy test kit, just my luck! Won't be adding or testing until I can get a reference or confirmation of my readings via an alternative kit.

Looks like we could have got some false results. Let me know when you receive it and I'll pop over to make a comparison.
