Anyone using TMC's new led lights? Or are there others available. Are they worth the money. Are there any hidden expenses. Would salt splash be a problem as I want to use them in an enclosed hood, and they would only be about 4" above the water.

There an ok light for most softs but unless you have an LED like karnivor i wouldn't house SPS under them .
They are a sealed unit so splash should be ok but you might have to wipe them over now and then .They did have an issue with the gasket and some sort of gassing that made them drop off light intensity but them issues are long ago sorted

Thanks for that Jas, It'll be a 4' x 2' deep LPS tank with a few softs in it. I cant trust my Emperor Angle with them any more.

hi
wouldn't run just led's only as you would need a lot of strips in your size tank, but a mixture of t5's and led's would be great for lps
i run a red sea with both, the light penetration of the led's is good and you get the shimmer effect
my tank has a couple of soft corals but mainly lps and a growing number of sps frags from jason's
most seem very happy with the lighting

HI John
No tanks still in the garage, had a disaster in the kitchen before Christmas. Bloody dishwasher leaked, got to take half the kitchen out and replace the floor so tank has gone on the back burner for now.
