Ive got a TMC 1500 Calc Reactor and ive been battling to get it to operate correctly. I am slowly getting there by altering how I feed it.
Ive reached a point where the reactor is stable at a PH of 6.3 and its providing the following.
DKH 70
Effluent flow 7ml per minute.
My question is, is this producing enough calcium to maintain a 600ltr (after taking rock etc away) system. Bearing in mind that it is SPS dominant and has a lot of growing to do.
should I be pushing the reactor harder? ie more flow and CO2
I could just suck it and see but Ive got the oppurtunity to buy a used Shuran Jetstream. The obviuos answer is just to buy it as they have a good reputation but it will be a squeeze to get it in and I dont want to simply give up on the one I have if its doing a good joib.

I think you need to tweek a bit. Depending on tank size and demand, I would be aiming at 60-80ml/min and a DKh around 25-30. Ph is about right but really depends on what media your using. Its all a bit of trial and error but thats the sort of figures you want to be aiming at.
I'd also get the Schuran if I were you!

I have the same Reactor as yours and it keeps up just i have around 900 litres and lots of large sps, I do add a few scoops per week of bio-calcium
If i still used kalk i doubt i would need to, Never tested the kh or flow rate just plugged mine in and it is doing its job

Thanks guys.
Ive upped the flow and CO2 and made a few basic mods to the setup.
I'm currently monitoring the effects.
I'm going to see if I can stop it from gassing up without doing the recommended mod.
