Are there any issues with c02 from calcium reactors in the main tank to keep an eye out for ?.
The S Jetstream can run up to 120 ml at 200 plus bubbles of c02 a minute ,a lot of c02 to find a home for .

Hi Linds - Not sure how much of the CO2 escapes in the effluent however I have a seperate de-gassing chamber where the effluent gets heavily aerated before entering the main water column. This alone raises Ph to about 7.6 so I guess there is probably a measurable degree of Co2 in the effluent, not good if its directly entering the tank however again that depends on volume of water etc.

I dont know where your effluent enters your sump, but mine enters at the front end of the fuge. It goes in at PH 6.3 but the effluent from the other end of the fuge is at the same level as the main tank during the day and actually higher overnight. I run the CA reactor 24/7 and light the fuge 24/7. I grow enormous amounts of Chaeto as a result, which also keeps my Nitrates and Phosphates at rock bottom. As you know, I only run the fuge slow and this gives enough time to use up the CO2 before it exits back to the return pump.

In this sense, I feel I actually gain some benefit from the spare CO2. If you do the same, it may be useful to check the PH at the point where the water returns to the tank. You may be amazed at how little is getting past the Chaeto.
You also have a pretty busy surface on your tank, so the gas interchange should be good.

BTW i'm holding off on my Jetstream until a part arrives so that I can mod it. I'm putting a Rotameter on it, to measure water flow and if successful, will do the same for CO2.

I guess there could be an issue if it was going directly into the display tank. mine was going into the overflow into the final chamber of the sump and didn't cause any known problems.

I have now moved it to upstream of the chaeto so that it can use any excess, as per karnivor, I will wait and see if it makes any difference.

Cheers

Kev
Tankless at the moment :-(

Hopefully not long to wait
