Hi Guys,
Ive been trying to ID this coral for a while now, but cant come up with a positive ID. the nearest ive got is a "fuzzy acro" but even that seems to include anything hairy or slightly polypy.
If its an Acro, its a strange one. Notice the plumpness of the polyps and how they show right into the depths of the coral. The boltholes are also strange, having cups at the branch tips, but nothing deeper in.
It almost looks like an Acro-Monti hybrid, impossible though it is.
Take a look at the pictures, I make no exuse for the crap photos, i'm photographing through 2' of water and 12mm of glass with no macro lens.
On some of the pictures my blues are turned off to reduce abberation and on one, it is blue only to give a different perspective.
Ive forced the polyps to retract on some pictures to expose the skeleton.

I'd guess at an acro but no idea which one :P

I suspect it will start branching out once it has built itself a strong base

Then it will be a stunner :o

sorry

Kev
Tankless at the moment :-(

Hopefully not long to wait

well, thats starting to get close.
the top picture doesnt really represent what I have, but that could change.
The polyps are similar, but if i was to criticise them, I would say that mine are plumper and less flowing.

other than that, the second picture has a very familiar feel to it and it may well be a different form of the same coral.
Ive googled it, to see if there are any pictures that look closer to mine, but ive drawn a blank.

A very good effort though and it will go on my short list.

Thanks.
