hi all i wonder if anyone can id this acro please.sorry bout the shots best i can do. still an amateur when it comes to taking photos.

hi there it is not a sps coral its name is Cyphastrea decadia classed as lps :bleh: but beautiful non the less cheers gary

Sorry have not had time to look it up but when i looked at your pics the other night the corallites did look all wrong for an acro ,does it polyp at night ?.

indeed it is i have just been kindly shown it in veron's corals of the world in vol 3. page 249.i would never had guessed it was a faviid coral has it has so many acro like qualities besides the polyp extension.

thanks heaps for that gary it does make life so much easier when u can put a name to something. :P :bleh:

Trust me when it comes to coral identification, general outward appearence will only give you a very rough idea at best with regard to genus, whilst getting down to species is a whole different ball park..

It is fun trying though, even if we never realy know if we talking sense or complete drivel..

Yeh fun is the right word :P ,times i have looked in the veron books and said yep its that one and that one or it could be that one :bleh: .
