Hi, Am i missiing something? I`ve alway`s had a high dkh of around 15 dkh, but being new to it at the time i left well alone as the coral`s were all fine. Now i`ve had the tank for 18 months i thought i would do something about it so over a period of a couple of months i brought it down to 9.6, But i noticed i started getting die back on my sps and could not understand what was causing it everything was reading fine. Then the other day my P.H. dropped to 7.8 so i added buffer but by mistake i put the wrong one in that raised my dkh as well. My dkh went straight back to 15 overnight. But the strange thing is my sps`s stopped there die back & now have started new growth. Am i right in thinking dropping my dkh caused the die back or was it was just a big coincedence?

KH fluctuation will make SPS unhappy. When your KH is low this will in turn make the PH fluctuate more when the lights are off. It might be worth getting the KH checked by your local fish shop as 15 is high. Your test kit might be old or inaccurate. How did you get it this high?

The ph buffer put it up to that over night it went from 9.6 to 15 in 24 hours after adding buffer while only increasing the ph by 1 point

A quick change like that will upset the sps, thats why the most important thing with dkh is keeping it stable making any changes slowly.
