Hi
Could anyone ID this coral for me? It is on its own skeleton which is sort of a white colour. The polyps close at night.

Also. i have a couple of "things" growing on a Mushroom frag, apart from the mushrooms and some zoas.

The green bubbly thing?

Not the best of pics, but its the thing just to the right of the zoa

Thank you

Just spent the last 6 months trying to get rid of the Bubble algea. Nasty stuff. tends to congragate around the bases of corals and seems to "suffocate" them. horrible stuff.Still got clumps of it now but thankfully seems to be gradually dissapearing.

Ah right :) Is it a case of physically removing it or is there other options?

if you can remove the rock then do that and scrape them off , then rinse in some tank water.

if you cant remove the rock then carefully pick them off the rock without popping them

Apparently Mythrax crabs eat them but didnt work for me. probably because the Wrasse got to the crabs before the crabs got to the bubbles :)
I would try very hard to remove the rock as Ben suggests. if they take hold then the mushrooms will be the least of your problems...sorry didnt mean to sound alarmist

No problem :) The mushrooms should be ok out the water whilst i get the bubbles off. There's only 2 visible bubbles at the mo.

The top one is a Briareum stechei, the pacific encrusting gorgonian. They grow from the creamy coloured mat and form fingers that can re-attach further away from the mother colony. The polyps look the same as the green star polyps (pachyclavularia violacea) but the mat is purple on this species. Speads quite fast, mine has covered about 2cm of new lr in a couple of months. They are photosynthetic and grow quickly with bright light and high flow, really easy to keep but once established and settled will spread quite quickly.
