You could also try waving small fish or shrimp infront of him with tonges or tweezers.

Slappy, i havnt tried a fishing tackle shop for the silversides didnt know they were FW....Doh. Will give them a try later.
Cass1, Where do you get the lance fish from? Think he might like them.
Dylan, Again i wouldnt know where to get live brine shrimp from, i was thinking more along the lines of frozen so its easier to keep.

Small then usually Piscene energetics frozen mysis is reliable for eliciting a feeding response
Larger ones tend to take well to frozen small sandeels (sally's brand i normally use from TMC) if stick fed for a few weeks.
You should be able to get him eating new era flake once you have got him feeding on the basics.

Sandeel is quite tough so it doesnt break apart easily causing unneccesary pollution, quite attractive and nutritious, typically the sallys stuff is loaded with calanoid copepods which makes it even better. If you have it available, try using some TMC lipovit on it too as it contains vitamin B12 which is an appetite stimulant (i use this on baby bamboo sharks including a group that had a severe infection that needed oral antibiotics when i arrived in KSA). Do this and the first one or two difficult feeds will usually prove to be the only difficult feeds!
PE mysis is good quality whole large mysis, normally smaller fuzzys, which are usually hearty feeders will eat this after a couple of feeds with little coaxing. If yours proves to be very difficult then opt for the above method, again the lipovit may be an idea!

He has started eating the frozen mysis, but i have noticed that he is shedding, and losing all his markings. You said this is normal, but can also be a sign of a problem. What problems could this indicate?
thanks

If he has started eating something try working him onto other foods, especially fish based ones and enrich these which will help deal with both problems, if he wont eat anything else (keep pestering) make sure the mysis is enriched and work on that as best as possible

I just buy a bagful once a week and tip them in. The lionfish, and the anglerfish, then have a week to hunt them down before the next batch go in....
Of course this only works if the other tank mates are compatible to this approach - e.g. if there was a triggerfish in there these ambush feeders wouldn't get a look in and would starve.
