Hi all
I have a fuzzy dwarf lion that has fed realy well since the day i got him. The only problem i had was that all he would take was frozen artemia.Thinking that he would not get all his requirements from just eating this i brought some fozen shelled prawns from the supermarket thawed a couple out and droped them in the tank the lion eat them eagerly happy days i thought :welcome: .All seemed fine for about 2weeks the lion kept eating the prawns and was growing realy well. Now for some reason he is just sitting on the rock in the tank and is not intrested in feeding at all.He also seems to have gone a bit paler in colour.I saw on another post that lion fish shed i have never heard of this before could he be doing this? Can anyone shine some light on my problem.

it may be that the prawns arnt good for him but that is just a guess

Not heard of it either. My volitan gets bored of his diet pretty quick and stops feeding till I find something different for him. Try some bits of white bait or anything different.

In Time most fuzzys adapt well to most frozen and dry feed preperations. Good amounts of vitamin supplements and lipids will aid them dramatically especially in their first couple of weeks in the aquarium and in particular vitamin B12 will stimulate a much greater appetite in these fish which will elicit a feeding response on most moving things (This can be found in Tropic marin lipovit and is responsible for the appetite stimulation in garlic)

Lionfish rarely shed their skin en masse like their other scorpaenid counterparts (in particular leaf scorpionfish who can do a layer in a matter of a couple of days). Usually, when they do, it is indicative of a parasitic or water quality issue, it could also be a belated sign of rough shipping or poor settling into a captive environment. I would suggest keeping a close eye on the fish, getting hold of some TMC lipovit and keep offering him first frozen food (PE mysis or krill pacifica preferably) soaked in this. Once fed a couple of times on food soaked in vits they usually become far more responsive. Hes certainly not going to starve for a few weeks! Id get hold of some new era marine flake too, whilst i like the ocean nutrition foods and their nutritional profiles, i find it readily releases colourants (and probably nutrients thus) into the water column. New era doesn't! Be prepared to remove the fish to quarantine should things not pick up.

I forgot about the other fuzzy shedding, was that on here? I wanted to find out more about that one and its aquarium! as to me it looked like it was having a heavy shed on the pictures
