I know this could be like asking how long is a piece of string.....................

How long should it take for colours to return on my new acro's before accepting thats the colour I'm gonna get in my set-up?

As you say many things will affect colour,light ,water conditions ,position to light and flow and if all that's right they may not show nice colours until they settle and start growing with the colour being more obvious on the new branches.When sps come in i normally try to settle them down so they can recover from the trip then i find that the colours get better and better as time goes on .

Just to add,sometimes its the most unimpressive acro on a delivery that many months later can end up being the best looking acro we have seen for a long time .
