Some time ago I bought a large encrusting monti from Jasons Aquatics, it was a lovely brick red colour, it has since turned white with pastel pink tips.

It has now moved across to MrFishy's tank and is going a darker pink.

I have also bought a large piece of red plating monti from Quigs, again it was a brick red colour. A month or so later it has now turned the most beautiful baby powder pink.

I can't understand why everything that goes into my tank Brik red goes pale pink, I actually prefer the colour but wonder if it is a problem showing up with my tank?

I have triple 250w 10 000K BLV bulbs which are about 2 months old so don't think its a lighting issue.

I currently test as

Temp 28
Salinity 1.025
PH 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate <1
Phosphate <0.03
Calcium 480
Magnesium 1400

Any Ideas? Do you think its temp related, I know its a little high but its stable, hoping to remount the halides next week which should raise them a touch and help to cool the tank, allowing more cool air to circulate in the hood.
I suggest a change of plan... Let the wookie win

what lighting does mr fishy have, as that would be the most likely cause imo, or maybe nutrient levels?

Suspect as ben says ,nutrients. To get the tank back on track you have done a good few water changes and this may have watered it down a little.

Waterchanges are down to one a fortnight now, the crash was in March so hope nutrients are levelling out, am dosing daily with lugols and using Reefcrystals so hoping that takes care of the element side.

Maybe a 20L natural seawater change may kick it up a gear

could the lugols have anything to do with it?

is there any reason you dose that daily, bobba, and do you test for it?

The calcium is a bit high 480! whats the KH of the tank as you havent mentioned that? , Sounds like its bailing out, Red pink then eventually white, given you have low end nutrients aswell as a suspected high KH then its not surpising its not happy, how high in the tank is the Monti?
They dont like massive amounts of light also which can also cause it to bleach a little.

Its about 12 inches from the surface, DKH is reading 10, i was advised a lugols dose of 4 drips a day was a safe and reasonable dose in a tank my size without having to overly test.

I am starting to think that the tempreture is a factor as its coincided with the warmer weather coming in
