I will be over kuramathi soon Tim so will take a look at a lot of stuff like that .Im 90% sure the die back will be minimal due to the amount of food in the sea

I agree Tim, we should forget about hi colours and try and get more natural shapes with only a few species of coral, after all there's plenty of colourful fish.

I didn't notice any die back even on the tables below others which aren't getting any light I guess they're getting enough natural food

Can you see the corals like those pictured if you just went for a snorkel? , I kinda mean just swimming on top of the water, how deep are most of them

All those pics are from snorkelling, I couldn't dive as i got an ear infection after 2 days of being out there, most are in depths of less than 3 mtrs

Gutted for you. How unlucky is that?! My girlfriend started to get one in indonesia last year towards the end of our trip, apparantley it was from all the plankton going into your ears. We used a mix of alcohol and vinegar as drops and it stopped it getting any worse and she was able to contiune diving. I wash my ears out after every dive now, with a blast from the hose on the back of the boat.

Yea i was also told it was the plankton, definately a good idea to wash your ears out. Even worse it cost me $85 for some drops from the doctor :) typically my insurance excess was £100
