right i am looking to upgrade the lighting and have the wall extended over the tank

now as i am under the stairs i dont have alot of room to play with tbh

have been advised mini luminarcs would be a good option

this is the tank and i was wanting to keep sps/lps and the tank and sump is about 400ltrs dimentions are 48x20x22

now i have also seen some clip on halides http://www.snapperaquatics.co.uk/clamp-on-...alide-127-p.asp

i am looking to hide all the lighting inside the wall so can cut away some of the stair cover above the tank as this wont be seen

also what kelvin should i go for 10k,20k,30k

Depending on your aquascaping, you may get away with a single 250W lumenarc or even a 400 :) , what sort of width is the tank? The clip-on lamp you linked to is only 150W, not enough for sps. When it comes to lamp color, I would go with 10K to maximise the light output and supplement some blue with leds or a T5.

20" wide at max but as it is a bow it is only 12" at the edges

depth is 22" from top of the tank and about 20" from the top of the water level

i was thinking of three of those type ones covering 1 ft and a bit each also am looking for a higher rated one at the mo to see what my options are

The tank is not wide enough to house a luminarc, so it would need to be a mini.
The best choice would be to go for 2 X 250w Mini Luminarcs, but if thats too expensive, then a single 400w would cover most of the tank.

As your intending to insulate the light you might have troubles with heat build up esp with 400w which i dont think you need.

An extractor fan would help if you could fit one, 2x 250 10k mini lumenarcs would be ideal but you could always use 12k 14k depending on how you like the colours to pop in colour

I also think that 2 x 250w mini lumenarc's would be ample for that depth of tank, and it looks like you have enough room to mount them as well :)
