Hi guy's,

Sorry it took so long but here are a few pic's of my new tunze 9410.
As you can see the pump is not small, especialy when you consider the size of the skimmer body. Its a bit like dropping a v8 into a micra!

So far i have only been able to open the air induction about 50% and its still pulling out 4 times more than the multi sl ever did! When you see the flow this thing chucks out and remember its only 12watts its pretty impressive!
Check out the impellor.

This is what it sucked out the first couple of days.Remember only 50% open on the air induction!

So far im very impressed with it.I dont have it tuned in yet and its just jacked up on an egg crate stand i botched together.Im going to completely re-design my sump/build a new one and then it will be sat on the deck properly in the correct depth of water.
Im excited to think of the possibilties that will come from this skimmer with the aid of bacteria(microbacter7) and the colours in sps i should get. :)

Nice one Dave - This is the one I was looking at getting but I didn't realise it was still available, thought it had been superceded by the newer straighter cup type skimmers.

As far as i know Quigs this is a new design with the new hydrofoamer pump. Its the next one down from the 9420 master doc.Ive opened the air induction a bit more and this thing is a beast. The instructions say clean out the cup every week.Yeh right,it fills with crud up to the top in two days! Its pulled out 400ml of skimmate in 24hrs and its tea like stinky stuff not wet skim.Water is really clean now and im noticing algae is starting to die back :D
Im on microbacter7 and bio fuel now and havent run gfo for three weeks.I had a spurt of algae growth when i took the gfo off line but its starting to go now.Once im out of bio fuel i will run microbacter7 and vodka.
I will build a new sump soon and get it set up properly then it should skim the nuts off the system!

Bought one of these last week to add to my existing Deltec 851. I was going to replace the 851 but rather than spend a grand or so, I thought I'd take a chance with one of these as its fits in my sump quite nicely.

Early days yet as Im only on about 30% air, but I have to say its certainly pulling out some stinky gunk. Very easy to set up and also very well thought out. Will update after a week or so.

Was that it running just inside the door? I noticed the skimmer there today and thought it looked to be working well, got distracted with the potassium conversation before I had chance to ask
I suggest a change of plan... Let the wookie win

Hi Dave - No that was the 851. The 9410 is a tiny little thing small enough to put in the sump, but is pulling twice as much as the 851 on about 30% air! Sorry, should have shown you!

Dave - Impatient as I am, I was getting a little bored waiting to increase the air thinking it would never happen, however, and apologies if Im teaching you to suck eggs, but I re-read the manual and noticed that the adaptor ring should be 10mm below the outfall tube. I also connected the silicon air pipe to the nipple on the side of the chamber and the combination of the two has allowed me to get alot more air through.

Is this how yours is set-up?

Hi Graham,

Yes my air line is connected to the same nipple but im not using the uplift pipe yet as i dont have the room for it.Im re-doing my sump soon.Im also fully open on the air and its a brilliant skimmer! What depth do you have yours in? I have mine with the water level 1 inch below the top of the pump.

Mines about an 1" above the bottom of the pump body. Still can't give it full throttle though! How long did it take for you to 'open her up'!

Probably about a month Graham.Just open it up a tiny bit every couple of days and you will be there in no time.Mine skimmed a bit wet to start with with 100% air but now its a real nasty nog! Ive been in no rush to upgade the sump as i want to find the perfect depth for it before i build it.

I got my original body changed to the newer type and cleaned the new one with soapy warm water and it broke in alot faster than the first body!
