In any case. Ben, your effluent device is killer. If jason takes credit (noted from the post , or is he taking the p***), the kudos to you as well. Basically, it rocks! I'll sned a few pictures of this . in a bit
Here's the specs.
120 cm X 65 cm tall x 60 cm front to back.
equipment list
(2) vortech mp 40 pumps
3,500 liter red dragon return pump
small size KZ zeovit filter
ATB Calcium reactor (finally got this thing to work right)! Awesome now, just the operator was daft!
Grotech sp 4800 adjustable peristaltic pump (really good piece of kit for dosing water into calcium reactor. really accurate)
aquatronica contoller
2 ph probes (1 for main tank, the other for the reactor)
Mini bubble King 180 Skimmer
Efflient chamber (for calcium effluent reactor)
tetra tec 50 , air pump (for displacing excess co2. This seems to be enough to do the trick, had a bigger one, the noise drove me insane)!
85 Liter container (from Ro man) for ro evaporation
Float switch for top up, using tunze osmolator pump
filter sock
Water supply:
Ro di filter system (from the states), with 2 di chambers, I use a tds meter to check it never goes above 1 ppm.
Lighting:
12 x 54 Giesemann Matrix
1 150 watt hqi 14k bulb (for shimmer effect)
12 hour Photoperiod.
I'm planning on changing the lights to 10x 54 watt with leds for shimmer.
Although the Giesemann is pretty brand new, It gets warm, and I don't want to use a chiller. I'll sacrifice 2 less bulbs plus metal halide for just 10 tubes.
I'll have to get on to selling this soon.
Water changes;
5-10 % weekly, and adjust magnesium as needed.
Test kits;
Calcium (salifert)- i was using Machery Nagel, but was not accurate (or at least the one I bought. this one was off by 46 ppm. tested against fauna marin refernece water test solution)
Magnesium (salifert)
Kh (sera) I have tried several brands (machery Nagel, Salifert and found this one to be the apsolute best. What's more it's the easiet and most accurate (i found. I have bout about 8 over the past 3 years, and never had a problem)
Phosphate (hanna Photometer Low range) The best! Not cheap though
I'm using zeovit; here's my regiment:
4 drops of bac 2x per week
.7 ml start 2 daily
3 drops of sponge power daily
3 drops of amino acid high concentrate (2x weekly)
3 drops of PIF (2x weekly)
3 drops of Potassium Iodide (2x weekly)
3 drops Iron concentrate (2x weekly)
1ml B-Balance (2x weekly)
4 ml Coral snow (3x weekly)
1 ml Pohl's Xtra daily
well that's it for now
enjoy

Any way, the tank has been set up since arpil this year but all of the corals have come from my previous chromis! Can you believe it?? the corals have since then grown (they were in the chromis for almost 2 years and were sqeeeezed up against the glass). It was an excuse for an upgrade!

In any case the tank was originally set up as a aquamedic chromis, 2 years ago, but the corals grew till they were squeeezed up against the glass. This was my chance to convince the wife for a new tank! It worked! I upgraded in april of this year and so far so good. Had some problems with the calcium reactor, but Lindsay hooked me up! He has the pacience of SAINT!
Ben, I'm a retard, if you're reading, I wasn't able to copy and paste the rest of the pics from photobucket. So much for my attempt! Jus managed to reply another url!
anyway thanks again bobba
