Ive spent a little time tonight, looking at bulb options as i'm getting close to exchange time.

Coralvue say the the 12k reeflux has the same performance as the 10k, but with a little more blue. This would suit me nicely but is this just sales hype.

With twin 400's over a 5X2X2, I could probably get away with a little less par, but wouldnt want to drop significantly.

Has anyone ever done a comparison or tried both? If so, i'd be interested in your comments.

Tony.

Come see for yourself Tony as we have 12k over the LPS system and 10 over the sps system .

Myself would say stick with the 10ks,i know Tim has run both so maybe ask him his findings .

The 400w reeflux bulbs are fairly close on performance, unlike the 250w reeflux bulbs.

Hi Tony i used 12k for 6 months and 10k for a further 6 months or so, You deffo get better growth with 10k no question about it, However the 12k still gives excellant growth and its not that far behind the 10k it depends how impatient you are ...

12k will wash out those bright blue colours and puples dont pop as much, However greens reds lps and fish look stunning.

Im due a change over myself and am going back to 12k the overal colour is better as growth for me is less important now.

Thanks Tim, it sounds like I need to go 10k for another year or so and then perhaps reconsider the 12's.

the 10k is a nice bulb but i'm just searching for that little extra crispness. It will be interesting to see what Quigs thinks of the 10k XM's
