as title is anyone running a 6500 as there main halide ??
always think my tank looks too blue with my reeflux 10k so would like to try a Iwasaki 6500k to see if i can live with it.
jason and lindsay kindly changed over one of the sps tank lamps over to 6500 to show me the difference. it was very yellow but would like to give it a go to put this choice out of my mind either way.
would be good to hear from anyone running one to get their input before i fork out the wonga !

YES I AM :P

Bit "yellow" for the first couple of weeks burn in.
But now very glad indeed as the corals are lovin it.

Greens and Reds show up well but if you like the "blue" look then these are not for you.

Planning to run these for a good 6 months before adding 2 x 250W 20Ks.

Will then run the 6500 for around 6 hours and switch to the 20Ks for the last 2 to 3 hours in the evening.

Your purple nana will still look very purple ;)

Drew it wen't less "yellow" after a few days,
and to be honest it just looks normal now.

I suppose I have got used to it and would notice a big difference it I were to go back to 10Ks.

The other point for the change is to see what the grow out is like.

Why don't you borrow a bulb for a couple of weeks from someone.
