ph pen using and calibrating

hi all
been given a used ph tester for the tank, im not sure how to use it could someone help? and is there a way to calibrate it sort of until i get some fluid to do it properly, do you submerge it about an inch or use the sponge with it? help please im feeling thick
have been using salifert up to now but get varying results

you will need to calibrate it in fluid such as these.

And then store it with a bit of sponge or floss in the cap into which you can put some calibration fluid.
