Hi All,

I have the Betta Lifespace 1000 which has a HaiYang 806 Return Pump included. The pump specs say it has a 2100LPH output.

On the return to the tank it goes through a small in line carbon sponge filter, Resun FBF 1000 Sand filter then the V2 400 UV and then the tank.

The flow output of the pump is not stirring up the sand in the FBF. I have yet to install a Cleartides PO4 reactor too. So this is the plan.

Move the skimmer from chamber 4 to chamber 1.
Buy another pump and run the PO4 and FBF off that in chamber 4 with the return in chamber 4.
Plumb the original just through the UV and return to the tank.

Question is what flow of pump would I need to run the PO4 and FBF in series with each other???

The two reactors require different flow rates. Typically a phosphate reactor is run off something like a 400 to 600 lph pump and even then it is dialed back down where as an FBF has more heavier media that requires a higher flow rate to fluidise it, so you can't really run them in-line with each other.

I would guess the pump is not as good as say an Eheim and is unable to cope with the head imposed upon it. I would look at using something like an eheim 3000 to eheim 5000, great pumps whost output is adjustable.

Also check the flow rate needed for the uv as if its too high you are wasting your time and money. You need a good contact time inside and if its just flying through its useless.
I use an eheim 5000 compact as a return pump and its faultless!

A 1262 is a bit power hungry and a bit extreme to run a PO4 and FBF filter.
