hi all
tank is 4x2x2 with 2 large rock formations either end and a large leather in between, having flow issues and loads of dead spots around the tank, running 2 tunze 6025 (modded) and 1 tunze 6045, have tried all positions for them, 2 at one end 1 at other, 3 on the back etc etc, tried facing them up, accross and down (to much sand movement) have lots of yellow polyps and zoas, xenia etc so mainly softie tank
any ideas on the best way forward on this
thanks
tilly

Trev's Polario that he's selling would do the trick!

I would be tempted to move one powerhead lower,

Are they controllable? you can cause some really good random currents but switching pumps on and off so that their flows effect each others at different times
I suggest a change of plan... Let the wookie win

no control on them and as there tunze they have a habit of switching on in reverse if timered

Y do they start in reverse??

I agree I think you are meant to have your stronger pumps lower down with smaller pumps at the top. Causes a resultant upward flow to your wier keeping stuff in suspension.

The powerheads are all pointing down, amongst other things this has the tendancy to keep detritus in and around the rocks rather than allowing it to be washed up and over the weirs. I would try to move them down and point them up towards the surface which will churn up the surface increasing gas exchange. See if you can get one or something to wash in and around the back of the rock work, you'll be collecting a lot of detritus around the back.

Flow is a bugger, I've got four 1500 seios in my tank I'm still not happy with some areas. I still need to use the 2200 polario to wash out the rock work as well.

What is your turnover?

I have sps rather than softies but including my return I have 64x per hour
