I've had a dinner plate size rbta for a couple of years and has always been very healthy. A couple of weeks ago he let go the rock and got far too close to the pump! I turned the pump off and let him get himself out of the pump which he did. He was very mangled on one side. Over time he recovered and eating fine. He let go again. I found him in an almost impossible position under the base of a coral. Don't know how he got under there! I've moved the coral and left the bta in its place. It is now very small and looks like it has had a botched split. It is often deflated during the day looking mangled but looks find at night and early morning. I cant see another half anywhere. Do they usually look mangled after splitting? Do crabs eat and damage anemones? That might explain how the anemone got there and the mangeled look?
Cheers

I'd have to agree with Ben and keep an eye out as the other half could quite easily be in hiding somewhere too!
