Well, here is another one I can now scrub off my list of fish I want.
Mr Fishy was in His local today and spotted a very healthy looking, small Achilles Tang. In order not to dissapoint me, he took it upon himself to pick it up and drive all the way from where he lives to Newquay to deliver it to me.

Thanks Drew, a pure act of kindness if ever their was one.

Here it is. its settled in nicely and is already chomping at the rocks. It resfuses to hide, despite gaining the attentions of my Yellow Tang and my Goldrush Tang. there has been quite a lot of flashing going on, which I hope will subside over the next day or two, but so far nothing that overly concerns me as the achilles is happy to take it in its stride. It is about 3-4" in size, so quite a youngster.

Thanks for the comments guys, i'm hoping he will turn into a long time resident of my tank.

He's out and about again this morning, so there was no overnight fighting. In fact, things already seem much more sttled in the tank, so i seem to be off to a good start.

Bobba, no, I havnt wormed him. I hadnt got a QT tank fired up as he was an unexpected purchase, but he looks in tip top nick, so may be fine without.

He was very slowly acclimatised, as the water he arrived in, only had an SG of 1023, compared to the 1026 I run at. He wasnt released until I got both SG's equal. When I released him, he just wanted to swim around in the jug and when finally making his way out, quietly swam down to the bottom of the tank with no sense of urgency whatsoever. Always a good sign.

Good luck with him, looks like a good fish.

Not sure what he is eating but Delicasea marine flake is a good one for these. My LFS always gets them eating using it and at one point it was all mine would eat. Still goes mad for it now when I put it in the tank.

http://uk.ebid.net/perl/auction.cgi?mo=auc...from=googlebase only decent pic of the food I can find.

The tang has settled in great. He is now numero uno. He doesnt display his colours too well, and I dont know if thats because he has no need to, or he feels threatened. Nothing bothers him any more and hes eating like a pig and has put weight on.

He was having fun chasing my new vermiculate wrasse around yesterday. No harm done, it didnt even dive.

My tank is now stocked to overflowing with fish, so Ive pretty well come to the end of my stocking phase.

However, I'm picking up a Percula 90 today, so Ill be planning a deeper water tank, using T5's (mainly blue) and possibly some home made rock.

Just missed you earlier at Mha . I guessed the tank was for the deep water set up, An all blue aquaray strip or 2 will give amazing colour to lps's and ricordias if you go in that direction; and they fade up and down seamlessly for dawn & dusk. you're welcome to a sun coral too, i have several and certainly one spare. (the deep setup would be a perfect candidate for suns, gorgs, sponges - loads of food and a canister of bio degradeable plastic keeping it all in balance maybe  :D
KEEP A FEW TRUE STARFISH, SAVE THEM FROM BEING DRIED OUT FOR TOURISTS
