Got myself a s/h Jetstream 1 ;) It had the pump missing and had a small repair to the bottom of the media chamber

Luckily, as Lindsay has modified the one in the shop he still had his original chamber going spare, what a star ;)

Also carried out a couple of mods as recommended by Karnivor ( thanks Tony), raising up the diffuser and fitting a flange to the base of the effluent outlet.

A mate of mine had an eheim 1250 which i swapped for an aquabee I had spare so I'm now all sorted, just need to get it up and running now.

Thanks again Linds

looking good M8.
One last thing to consider. because you have left the tap on the reactor, there is a chance that the PH probe will sit in an airlock, as gas will accumulate up the pipe. Ideally, you need to remove the tap and refit the probe in such a way that the bottom of it is level with or below the horizontal part of the tee piece.

I hope that makes sense, its very late and i'm tired.

Tony.

Hi Dave - If you get a threaded union, throw away the female part of the union and screw the male part into the female part already on the reactor then your probe holder will screw directly into the new part of the union.......if that makes sense? ;)

Edit - just found a photo which may help?

Tony - What is the mod with the effluent outlet?

On earlier models, the bottom of the efflunet outlet was simple squared off, so it just looked like a blind end.

on later models, the bottom of the outlet is actually larger than the tube, so as to form a 5mm lip around the bottom. This diverts any rising bubbles away from the inlet holes at the bottom, preventing them from ending up as effluent.
Ive done it on mine and its made an unbelievable difference to my CO2 usage.

If yours hasnt got the flange, you simply need to make a circle out of thin sheet, that is about 10 mm wider than the tube and stick it on with a spot of superglue.

Tony.

That makes sense Tony. Ive obviously got the earlier model with the square end. Will do that next time, although I only stripped it down last week!

Thanks for the heads up on the probe holder

Doesn't it need a reducer as opposed to a union?

No as long as you get the correct size union, I think its metric on the Schuran so Im not sure of the sizing, its probably tyhe equivalent of 1/2" fittings. Make sure you get a threaed union though i.e. threaded where the probe holder is to screw into. I'll PM you an excellent pipe fitting supplier.
