Tom, why do these fish go pale in the purple bit? I thought it was nutrition related but not too sure.

To be honest, ive never had one go pale on me, so i can only suggest that it would be nutritional really. In contrast, Sunrise dottybacks and Pictichromis sp. can be hard to keep the colour in IME, they need lots and lots of pigment rich foods to be anywhere near asnice as their wild counterparts!

Mines never lost any color in five or six years, what are you feeding it?

I feed mine on flake, new era flake and brine shrimp. It looks like an over production of mucus on mine.
I've seen a lot of very pale ones in shops and wondered what caused it.

Thats usually too much copper and inadequate (very cheap) food. the colour comes back though!!!
