Hi, looking to upgrade my lighting system from T5's to LED's (possibly a mix of both) got a 4'x2x2 tank. Basically, I'm wondering if they are worth the cost. Thanks

as far as i can see they are only good for suppliment lighting not a replacement for T5's or halides.

What you want to keep makes a big difference. Softies and most lps should do fine but sps, whilst they will survive, don't seem to thrive in the way they do under t5 or halide. Sps variety and placement is an important factor. Supplental blue LEDs for evening viewing when you are not using them for growth, is fine.

Both marcus and karnivor on here have moved from led to halides. If you are still unsure, take a look thru on UR thru the tank-of-the-months over the last 12/18 months to see what lighting they use, I bet the over whelming majority are halide followed by t5.
