Whats the best iphone 3g deal youve seen?

That depends on how much you want to use it for calls/texts. I have a 3GS on O2, pay as you go, and I pretty much only use it for texts. When I top up £15 I get a 'surprise' which is usually something like free unlimited texts for a few days or something, which keeps me happy! The only issue with PayG is that you get a years free mobile internet, but after that you have to either turn off the bolt on (which is a pain), or pay 10 quid a month, not sure how that works out with contract. Can't remember exactly how much it cost me new, but it was over the £400 mark slightly. Basically, if you're going to be using a large amount of calls and texts then it's definitely worth going on contract IMO, but if you're not going to be using it that much, then pay and go works out cheaper in the long run.

i have o2 payg now with free ( slow GPRS and EDGE ) internet, text and mins, on my normal mobile. i doubt i spend £10 a month really so it looks like a payg deal would be best.
trouble is the initial outlay on the phone
the main reason i want the iphone is for the useful apps as well as the internet and phone

I have to admit, that despite how much a loath Apple, for having something in your pocket to browse the web, email and a host load of other apps it's great and I would be sore to lose it.

I thought the same when I had it, but the biggest problem is the mute button, I've put everyone I spoke to on the phone on mute so many times and people hang up on me thinking that I've hung up on them. Gave mine away in the end as I got fed up with it.
One advice: Apple aftercare is crap, don't waste time talking to them, when I explained the problem I had, all they said is buy a handsfree headset.
The other problem is my handset (3GS 16Gb) used to lock up every now and then.
So now on the Blackberry contract and pay £10 per month via o2, with 600 minutes, unlimited web/data and unlimited wifi.
If you get yourself a second hand iphone, you can go on a contract with o2 simplicity via the o2 simplicity iphone tariff http://shop.o2.co.uk...iffs/simplicity

Bummer, had one of those 3GS 16Gb as well, the one I gave away was my insurance replacement, the original one went in the bin in the end as O2 never collected it.

if you come across another can you let me know?
Yeah will do, got another here but I'm giving this one to my youngest nephew though.
What size are you after?
3g 8Gb
3g 16Gb
3g 32Gb
3gs 8Gb
3gs 16Gb
3gs 32Gb
Reason I'm asking is that some of the work phones are due upgrades to Blackberry's and depending on management as whether or not they will sell them or dump them in the filing cabinet along with all the other junk they have.
As I've already had first dibs on my phone, I got a feeling that the other staff may get first dibs on their phones as well and may not let me have it.

Ok, will keep an eye out for you.
I asked at work and the old phones will be available to the staff who currently use them on a first dibs basis, however if they don't want to buy them, then they will be available. BUT, I think they will have them as they are being offered for £50 each. Most are 3gs 16gb or 8gb versions.
If I can get hold of one, then I will.
