Hi Guys,
Ive been messing again!!

as you know, ive just started a fresh reef tank and ive been using balling salts to get it balanced out.
My original intention was to move over to using my old Calcium reactor in it, but I am so impressed with balling, ive decided to use it on both tanks.

Not wanting to shell out for another balling computer at this time (its early days for this tank) and being too lazy to keep messing with bottles everyday, I decided to knock together a simple manual balling doser.

By using 4 100ml syringes, 8 cheap one way valves, a cheap pipe holder and a bit of home made acrylic work, this is what ive come up with. The bottom valves will have pipes going to the 4 dosing bottles once its installed.

Just pull the syringe up to measure your dose, and push it down to dose it in as many doses as you want. Simples

Why do left-over nuts never match left-over bolts?

Looking good Tony ,How much space will the balling method take up under the tank as this maybe great for the guys who haven't the room for a calcium reactor .

Have you got details as to where you got all the parts to build the unit .

Keep us posted as i can see a good few going this way as it doesn't see an overly expensive way of setting up balling as the dose pumps can work out expensive

John,
you are very welcome to copy it, but dont use the same non return valves as me, they are rubbish. No 2 valves work the same. I have some very nice stainless steel ones coming, to try out instead.

Ill keep you posted.

I did something similar a while back....

... and found some little spring loaded airvalves that seemed to work well enough, they had a blue/grey translucent plastic body, got them at a local fish shop.
