Hi all
after having major heat problems with the halides I've gone back to t5s
tank is 48 x 22 x 24 high.. all soft corals. all levels are checked and are good. now the question is have I got to much lighting as I'm forever cleaning algae off the sides and am getting a bit of green algae over the rock.

have got 6 t5 54w tubes all together as follows

4 X aqua blue plus for the whites
2 x actinic

actinics on for about 12 hours
2 of the whites for about 10 hours
other 2 whites for about 8 hours

its not just about light tilly. have you got good water, do you know your phos reading?
what type of algea is it?
how old are the tubes?
if you only have softies then you could cut the lighting a bit.
you will always get a bit on the glass that needs a clean every other day or so.

As Ben said. You can't have too much light really as you're never going to compete with the sun! Water quality is key to keeping algae under control.
