Hey guy's,

I'm thinking about changing my reef tank lighting over to t5 from 150w halides.I dont want to go the 250w route as i'm only interested in zoo's,lps and ric's etc and i dont want all the heat of halides, the problems with bulbs not matching etc etc.Plus i like the colour you get from t5's.I've found blau t5 lighting and apart from the price it looks pretty good. The tank is only 48"long 12" deep and 18" tall but with this unit i could fit six t5's over there no problem which i think could look amaising ! Anyway here is the link, please tell me what you think, cheers. good.gif http://www.waterhomeaquatics.co.uk/blau-lu...aire-3271-p.asp

It looks a smart unit and the price is quite good compared to some of the multi tube t5 units that have been turning up over here!
One thing tho what make are the tubes that are supplied with the unit, as at around £10+ each to replace it could be a bit steep if the ones that come with it are crap!

Very true.I do have two narva's i'm using to supliment my halides so thats two less to buy if they are pants !

It looks almost identical to the ATI Powermodules, but £200 cheaper. The only difference as far as I can see is the ATI has an acrylic shield.

Not sure on the quality though, it could be a cheaper copy or it could be made to the same standard for all we know? If you don't want to risk it the ATI Sunpower 6x54w is about £270, though I think you have to buy the tubes seperate - TBH though i'd rather choose my own anyway.

Thanks guy's,

I think i will go with the blau. Its a fair bit narrower than the ati meaning i will get the full effect of six t5's.The thing that made my mind up was i have an arcadia over tank luminair 4 bulb t5 on my seahorse tank that is two foot wide.I put this over the reef tank on one side so i could compare the 150w halide against the t5's.Well the t5 unit looked twice as bright, more colour and about 80% less heat. The only small down side was less glitter lines but i can live with that for the extra colour. The 150w halide was a marine lux 14k with two narva t5's and the arcadia luminair is two narvas and two 14k,just four bulbs,so six should be even better ! Got to admit i've considered going with 12x54w (2 6x54w ATI Sunpowers) T5's over my tank, but i'd be dropping over 300w of light and i'd be worried it would be a step backwards.
gobyboy
