Hi guys seen one of these in the lfs today and have read the book which says that in most cases they are ok in the reef tank. Now I'm not sure if it is Forcipiger flavissimus or Forcipiger longgirostris but think its probably the former. So was wondering if any of you have had any experiences with these and are they ok for the reef. Not wanting to get it if its gonna eat my acros and small polloped softies etc. But he is a handsome fella.

Both species have the same risks as copperbands TBH, feather dusters are gonners usually, some LPS may be subjected to mild nipping. its rarer to see a coral eating longnose!!!!

Forcipiger longgirostris is the one considered to be safer, having said that if Tommo says that they are both about the same, thats good enough for me

Personally I prefer the longgirostris as it has a longer snout and I think that makes it look better

LOL this is like the wimple dephreutes/ acuminatus debate Everyone says dephreutes is safe, ive found it to be the acuminatus that is the more reliably safe. All the dephreutes ive tried went mental for corals. Ive had a few of both species in shop coral tanks as juveniles and adults and TBF only had a problem with feather dusters with both species!
