I've had a red BTA for a year and a half to 2 years. It sat in the same place for the last 8 months or so and seemingly very happy.

A few weeks ago I bought a green BTA. After two weeks of sitting in the rocks, out it came in full glory.

Then my red one went wondering around, mostly behind the rocks and a couple of days parked up right next to the green BTA. Look quite smart side by side.

It got me thinking though do they communicate in some chemical fashion as the red one didn't move for ages but as soon as the green one went in, off it went. And it parked up right next to the other one. Could this be some sort of breeding technique? So as to ensure that gammetes (?) have more chance of meeting?

Any thoughts

apparently they do release chemicals that can be detected by one another, and either be accepted or not.

thats about as detailed as i get lol
